Pair your heater
Pairing links one physical H1C to your account. You do it once per heater. A thin progress bar across the top of the screen fills in as you move through three steps; the steps themselves have no titles.
Before you begin
Two things have to be true, and pairing fails without either of them:
- The heater is powered on.
- An Ethernet cable runs from the heater to your router or a network switch.
The app repeats both of these on screen, as numbered instructions, right before you commit to a unit.
The H1C pairs over Ethernet. The app has no Wi-Fi setup screen and no Bluetooth pairing, and there is no claim code to type in. Even on units whose serial number says Wi-Fi hardware is fitted, pairing goes over the cable. If the heater is not plugged into your network, it will not connect.
Where to start
Any of these opens the same flow:
- Home tab, the Connect Device row, if you have no heaters yet.
- Wallet tab, the Connect Device button, if you have no heaters yet.
- Home tab, tap the device name at the top, then Add New Device, if you are adding another one.
Step 1: identify the heater
The flow opens on a screen with a dashed outline reading "Couldn't find your device?" and "Add device manually or scan again". That is the starting point, not an error. Underneath it, the app reminds you: "Make sure your device is powered on and nearby".
From here you have two routes.
Scan the QR code
Tap Scan again to open the camera. The screen reads "Connect to your device" and "Scan the Device's QR code."
Hold your phone so the QR code on the heater sits inside the square frame with the orange corners. There is no shutter button — the app reads the code as soon as it comes into focus and moves you straight to the next step.
Your phone asks for camera permission the first time you open this flow, before you reach the camera itself. If you decline, the scan screen says camera permission is required and offers Enter serial number instead.
If you point the camera at a QR code that is not a Superheat device code, a short message appears at the top of the screen ("Invalid QR code format. Please scan a valid Superheat device QR code.") and the camera keeps scanning.
Enter the serial number
Tap Enter serial number. A panel titled Serial Number opens with one field.
Type the serial exactly as it is printed on the label. The field converts what you type to capital letters, so case does not matter. Then tap Confirm.
If the format is not right, a message reading "Invalid serial number" appears at the top of the screen and the field turns red. Tap the small x on the right of the field to clear it and try again. Back closes the panel.
A serial number is built like this:
SH-H1OXXAAA-2512-0001
| Part | What it means |
|---|---|
SH | Superheat |
H1 | The model |
O or S | Color: orange or silver |
D or X | With or without a display |
W or X | With or without Wi-Fi hardware |
AAA | The power, tank and hashrate configuration |
2512 | Year and month it was built — here, December 2025 |
0001 | The unit number |
Step 2: confirm the unit
The screen reads "Device found" and "Select your Superheat device to connect." A card shows the model, Superheat-H1, and the serial number underneath it, so you can check it against the label on the unit.
Below the card are the two instructions:
- Power on.
- Connect the ethernet cable.
Do both now if you have not already. Then tap This is my device.
If the serial on the card is not the heater in front of you, tap Scan again to go back and start over.
Step 3: wait for the connection
The screen changes to "Connecting..." with the line "This will take a few minutes." The device card is outlined in orange and a spinner turns beneath it. This is the step where the heater and Superheat's servers find each other, so give it time.
When it finishes you see Device Connected and a Done button. Tap Done and the app returns to the Home tab with your heater in place: its name at the top, a status dot beneath it, and the current water temperature on the card below the photo.
Readings do not all appear at once. The energy and hashrate charts fill in as the heater reports data, so there is more to look at later in the day than there is straight after pairing.
If pairing fails
You land on a screen titled Device Connection Failed with one line explaining why, and a Try again button that takes you back to the confirm step.
| What it says | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Couldn't connect to your device." | The heater did not answer. Almost always power or the network cable. | Check the heater is on, check the Ethernet cable is seated at both ends and that the far end is live, wait a minute, then tap Try again. |
| "This device is registered to another account." | That serial is already claimed by someone else. | If you bought the unit secondhand, or paired it on a different account of your own, contact Support before trying again. |
| "Device not recognized. Please contact support." | The serial is not in Superheat's records. | Check for a mistyped character, especially 0 against O. If it still fails, contact Support with the serial number. |
You may also see a brief message reading "Device not found. Please check the serial number." right after tapping This is my device. That one means the serial you typed is well formed but does not match a real unit — recheck it against the label.
If the connection keeps failing with everything plugged in and powered, the heater may not be reaching the internet at all. Try the same cable and port with a laptop to confirm the network drop is working.
Pairing more than one heater
More than one H1C can sit on the same account. Open the Home tab, tap the device name at the top to open the device list, and tap Add New Device at the bottom. Each heater goes through the same three steps.
Once you have more than one, that same list is how you switch between them. Each row shows the heater's name and its current status, and a check mark sits next to the one you are looking at. The Home tab always shows the selected heater; the balance and earnings figures in the Wallet tab cover all of them together.
Each heater can be renamed, which is worth doing straight away if you have two. See Device details.
