Frequently asked questions

Do I have to do anything to start earning Bitcoin?

No. Once the heater is paired and online it mines whenever it heats, using the same electricity, with no setting to switch on. The one thing worth doing early is adding a Bitcoin address, because a balance can build up but cannot be paid out without one. See How earning works.

Why can I only choose 50 or 60 degrees?

Those are the two target temperatures the H1C is tuned for, and Device Control offers exactly those two, shown as 122 and 140 if your unit preference is Fahrenheit. There is no slider and no in-between value. Switching between them takes effect through a restart, so the app asks you to confirm with a Restart Device dialog before it sends the change. Details are in Temperature.

Can I turn the heater on or off from the app?

No. There is no on, off or standalone restart control anywhere in the app, and heating is managed by the heater itself against the target you set. The only restart the app can cause is the one that applying a new target temperature triggers, and it is not a way to power the unit down. If you need the unit off, for example before a coolant refill, power it down at the unit. See Temperature.

Does my heater need Wi-Fi?

No, and it will not connect over Wi-Fi. The H1C connects with an ethernet cable to your router, which is why the pairing screen asks you to power on and connect the ethernet cable before you tap This is my device. See Pair your heater.

The app says Offline. What should I check?

Offline means the heater has not reported in for more than a minute, so the problem is almost always the connection rather than the hardware. Check that the unit has power, that the ethernet cable is seated at both ends, and that your router is working, then pull down on Home to refresh. If it stays offline with a good cable, see Status reference.

It says Needs attention but I still have hot water. Is something broken?

Needs attention always means the same thing: the mining side has stopped and backup heating has taken over, which is why the banner reads "Hot water is on, but mining is paused". Your hot water is fine, but you are not earning until it clears. Look up the banner title in Status reference to see whether to wait or call.

How do I stop the alarm sound?

Faults that sound the unit's buzzer put a speaker button on the alert banner on Home. Tap it to silence the heater, and tap it again to restore the sound. Muting does not fix the fault or clear the banner, so treat it as buying quiet while you arrange a repair. See Status and alerts.

When do I get paid?

Payouts are automatic and monthly, on the 28th according to the payout policy in the app, and the app shows you the next scheduled date. A payout runs only if your balance has reached 0.001 BTC; below 0.001075 BTC the balance carries forward to the following month instead. A 5% service fee applies, and standard Bitcoin transaction fees apply on top. See Payouts.

What kind of Bitcoin address do I need?

Mainnet Bitcoin only. Addresses beginning with 1, 3, bc1 and bc1p are all accepted, and the app checks the format before it saves. Testnet addresses, Lightning invoices and any other coin will be rejected. See Add your wallet.

Why does the value of my earnings keep changing?

Your balance is held in Bitcoin. The BTC figure rises as you earn and drops when a payout is sent, and nothing else moves it. The currency figure beside it is that same Bitcoin converted at the current exchange rate, so it moves with the market even on a day you earned nothing and even on a day your BTC balance did not change at all. The toggle in the header of Balance Overview flips every number on the screen between the two. See Your balance.

Why doesn't the energy chart match my utility bill?

The chart is calculated from the power your heater reports rather than metered at the wall, so small differences are normal. It also uses calendar periods, not rolling ones, so Day starts at your local midnight, Week starts on Monday, and Month and Year mean the current calendar month and year. See Energy and hashrate.

Do I have to install firmware updates myself?

The app never installs firmware on its own, so nothing happens until you start it. An orange New pill appears next to Firmware Version on the About screen when an update applies to your unit; tapping that row opens Firmware, where Update Now begins it. That button appears only while the heater is reachable, so an offline or inactive heater offers no way to start an update. Leave the power and the ethernet connected until it finishes, and note that you can close the app without losing progress. See Firmware.

How often does the coolant need refilling?

Every two years. The app starts warning you six months ahead, and the Coolant Refilled button that resets the clock appears only once you are actually due. Power the unit off and let it cool before you open any panel. See Coolant.

How do I reach a real person?

Open Support from the Setting tab, then Support Request, and give a phone number and a short description of the problem. The number has to be in international format with the country code, for example +16502857115, or the form will not submit. You can have one open request at a time, so if you already have one the drawer shows Request in progress rather than the form. Support replies within 1 to 2 business days, and you can also write to service@superheat.xyz. See Support.
