Firmware

Firmware is the software running inside your heater. Updates arrive from Superheat; you choose when to install them.

Checking your version​

  1. Open the Home tab.
  2. Tap the three dots at the top right to open About.
  3. Look at the Firmware Version row.

An orange New pill on that row means a newer version is available for your heater. Tap the row to open the Firmware page, whether or not the pill is there.

The Firmware page shows the version you are running as Current version underneath. Above it you will see either the new version number with a New pill, or Newest Version if you are already up to date.

Updating​

Update Now appears at the bottom of the Firmware page only when both of these are true:

  • A newer version exists for your model.
  • Your heater is reporting normally — not Offline and not Inactive.

If the button is missing while a New pill is showing, check your heater's status on the Home tab first. See Status and alerts.

Tap Update Now to start. The Current version line is replaced by a progress bar, and a notice takes the place of the button at the bottom of the page:

Please don't turn off power and make sure your device is connected to the internet during updating.

Do not cut power to the heater during an update, and do not unplug the ethernet cable. Interrupting a firmware update can leave the unit unable to start.

What to expect​

  • The bar moves in steps of roughly ten percent.
  • It stops at ninety percent and stays there until your heater confirms the update finished. This is normal; the last stretch is the heater applying the update and coming back.
  • You can leave the page or close the app. When you return to Firmware, the app checks with your heater and either picks the progress back up or shows the new version if it finished while you were away.
  • An update that has not completed after 15 minutes is no longer tracked. Reopen Firmware, check the version shown, and start again if it did not take.
  • If the update fails, the app shows Failed to update and your heater stays on its current version. Update Now comes back as soon as your heater is reporting again, so you can try once more.

Release notes​

Tap Release Notes on the Firmware page to open Version History. Tap any version there to expand it and read what changed, with the date of that release underneath.

The short summary in the middle of the Firmware page describes the newest firmware for your heater, whether or not you have installed it yet.
